- On one of our first dates he took me for a walk along a green belt. There were families having picnics and playing everywhere. It was a beautiful day. We were walking along and all of a sudden he took off running. He ran to this tree and got there a second after a little girl fell from a tree. He helped her up and brushed her off and comforted her until her mom got there.
- Things were getting serious really fast with Dave and I was headed to the football stadium to talk to him and tell him we needed to slow things down. On our way to the stadium Dave came across 4 older ladies in an RV. They were trying to clean their windshield. He stopped and helped them and accepted a cookie for payment. How could I slow things down after that. The talk turned to marriage instead.
- One night we stopped to get a bite to eat at a fast food restaurant. An older gentleman who was pretty dirty and dressed poorly came in after us and went up and talked to the kid behind the counter. He then left with nothing. Dave stood up, went to the counter and bought a meal and took it out to this man.
- Our first year of marriage I got pregnant with Ren. I had terrible morning sickness. Dave would wake up early in the morning and make me breakfast so I could have something on my stomache before getting up for the day. He would also go out in the freezing winter in the middle of the night to get me whatever I thought I could eat. Which was usually Laffy Taffy.
- We were driving along a mountain road one day and Dave saw an accident on the side of the road. He stopped and got out of the car to help. An elderly couple traveling from a foreign country had gone off the road. The side was so steep the car was caught in a tree. The couple had been thrown from the car. The gentleman was okay but his wife was in bad shape. Dave sat with them and did what he could to comfort the man and help the woman until emergency help finally came.
- Dave's sister was very sick and pregnant and her husband had to go out of town. Dave took leave and stayed with her to tend her other children and take care of her.
- Dave took his sister and son into our home and supported them while she was going through a divorce. He did this while supporting his own family after his paycheck had been cut in half.
- Dave is not judgemental. He knows he's not perfect so he doesn't expect perfection from others. He has helped others through many trials in their lives as he struggles through his own.
