Jordan is Eight!

My mother-in-law told me that her 4th child was so mellow that she thought something was wrong with him. I think it might be that Heavenly Father prepares 4th children for the chaos of their new homes because Jordan was the same way. Jordan was such a quiet baby that I have to confess I forgot about him on several occasions. Yet another reason I was never nominated for Mother of the Year. He just wasn't as demanding as the other 3. He is such a good kid and he says the funniest things. You just have to love my Jordan.

This is his 4th birthday with his favorite cousin/brother Skot. Jordan loves Skot so much that he has a permanent bed in our house. Jordan sometimes asks me if he can sleep in Skot's bed (the top bunk).
I have a ton of pictures of Jordan in the sink. If I couldn't find him when he was little I would start checking sinks and tubs. He is a water boy! He used to jump in the pool and smile at you from the bottom. Quite a frightening thing to see.
He's such a beautiful boy. With his blonde hair and always quick to smile.
Another example of his love of water. This is a slip and slide and he couldn't get enough of it.
He plays hard and sleeps harder. While the other kids were still waking up every two hours he was sleeping through everything.

Some of my favorite Jordanisms:

"Ahem, Excuse me Sister Hatch, could I please talk to my mom?"

Dad, "Jordan, why is Jack crying? " Jordan, "Can I watch a movie, please?"

"Ahem, a clue. You can get Tyler. . . ."

"Yes, sir" (with a salute)

No matter what this kid is saying he always tries to be polite. Happy Birthday to my favorite Jordan in the whole wide world.

Alisha's Baby Shower

As you can see this momma is about ready to pop! Alisha is having twins and the poor girl is out of room. We celebrated the blessed event with a little get together at Debbie's house. Thank you Debbie for your hospitality!

The cake was provided by Lisa, of course. The two peas in a pod were adorable and of course it was delicious.

Now this is an excellent reason for me to be done having kids. The poor girls feet! She is such a trooper though. Never a complaint from Alisha. She is such a happy mom! Good Luck Leesh!

My View

I try to keep my posts pretty light and fun but I just had to get this out so bear with me. Last week I heard Governor Palin speak as she was accepting the invitation to be John McCain's running mate. Her words moved me. Here was a woman that I could relate to. She has 5 children and helped with their hockey teams and joined the PTA. All of these things made me like her. She seemed warm and genuine. She understands what the real world is. I found myself admiring everything about her and thinking in my head, I could do that. I could put myself out there to make this a better country and world for my kids to grow up in. Through all this something was still nagging at the back of my mind, a little discomfort. Then is hit me, how much more of an impact could she make on the world by being a stay at home mom? Some would argue not as much. I disagree. We all know that our country is in a bad way. I see teenagers walking around in their Goth or gang wear and wonder, where are their parents? Why do the parents allow such disrespect in their children? Laura Ingram calls it “the Pornification of America.” I call it a disintegration of traditional family values. Most of the problems ailing our society today could be avoided if the children of our country were taught good moral values from a mother who was home and available for them during their crucial formative years.

I thought, how wonderful would it be if Governor Palin stood up in front of the whole country and said, "I am declining the Vice Presidency because I am needed at home." That would make an impact on the whole country that would be a topic of discussion for years to come. What an amazing example she could be! This country needs to know that the job of motherhood is the most important job in the world.
